Combatting the Zombie Virus of AntiZionism

Combatting the Zombie Virus of AntiZionism

Here are some of my thoughts on the anti-Zionist/anti-Semitic thing currently spreading through the political right and threatening to be the unraveling of MAGA and the America First movement that Trump has brought to the fore.

  1. My number one concern really has little to do with the political fallout, but is more related to the issue of the reliability of Scripture, including both Old and New Testaments. There are those like Andy Stanley who advocate completely divorcing Christianity from the Old Testament. They feel that the God represented in the Old Testament is not compatible with the God of the New Testament. One of the things that makes some people uncomfortable with the Old Testament God is His love and devotion to Zion, which is the subject of many promises over and above and in addition to any idea of an “old covenant” and a “new covenant.” His promises to Israel are made in perpetuity. Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night. . . If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me forever. (Jer. 31:35-36).
  2. If the Scripture is only reliable in some places and not in others, the door is opened to allow great confusion regarding what exactly the Christian faith is. Therefore, if you are going to suggest that God has broken His promises to Israel (Isaiah 49:15) and to David (2 Samuel 7:4-17), you will have to show in the Scripture when exactly this break occurred. According to Paul, writing in Romans 9-11, the promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had not been nullified as of the time of the writing of the Book of Romans. So then, when? Before 1948, when the nation was born in a day (Isaiah 66:8), or sometime after?
  3. The question of whether Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish state in the Middle East is not primarily a political issue or a legal issue, at least to the Bible-believing Christian. It is a spiritual issue. Just as the Covid virus can be traced to a laboratory in Wuhan, China, the current zombie virus that results in people who previously supported Israel suddenly turning against Israel can be traced to October 7, 2024 when Hamas flew over the barricades surrounding Gaza into Israel killing over 1,000 Israelis, including women and babies in the most horrific of invasions, even rivalling the Rape of Nanking in WWII. It appears that some demonic forces were also released in the course of that attack that have gone into all the earth promoting this most recent wave of anti-semitism/anti-Zionism, reminiscent of the spirits that are released in Revelation 16:13 and 14.
  4. No one can believingly read the Scripture without expecting all the nations of the world to display their rejection of the God of the Scripture by their rejection of—and hatred for—God’s elect, Israel. It is a constant theme, from Psalm 2:1-6 through Zechariah 12:2-3. In fact, the universal and long-standing hatred of “the Jooze” is inexplicable outside of the fact that it was prophesied by God so that its fulfillment is a proof of the validity of the Scripture itself. In other words, the irrational singling out of this one group of people over the last two millennia makes no sense except that it is a fulfillment of prophecy.
  5. The absurd claim that “the Jooze” run everything and control the world is laughable on its face. If the Jews actually controlled everything, they would not have allowed the United Nations to pass 178 resolutions of condemnation of Israel (compared to only 80 for all other countries that are not Israel). To put it simply, if they controlled EVERYTHING, they would receive much better press than they currently do.
  6. I have not heard from an anti-Zionist a good explanation of how Israel fits into the end-time scenario as depicted in Scripture, including passages in Daniel and Revelation. I have run into the random Preterist who doesn’t believe there is any future prophecy remaining to be fulfilled because all was fulfilled in AD 70 when the Romans destroyed the city of Jerusalem. If you believe that, there is a bridge in Brooklyn I might be able to let you have a good price.

What is Zionism? AI Overview

The main goal of Zionism is the establishment, support, and self-determination of a Jewish national homeland in Palestine, the historic land of Israel, providing a sovereign, safe, and democratic state for the Jewish people, rooted in their ancient connection to the land and response to centuries of persecution like anti-Semitism

  • Core Belief: Zionism views the Jewish people as a nation with the right to self-determination, similar to other peoples.
  • Objective: To create a secure national home for Jews, which was achieved with the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948.
  • Motivation: Driven by the desire for safety, dignity, and sovereignty after facing historical persecution and pogroms in Europe, as well as a deep religious and cultural connection to the land.
  • Modern Interpretations: Today, Zionism encompasses diverse views, including support for a secure, democratic Israel, though debates continue on borders, settlements, and Palestinian rights, with some factions advocating for a two-state solution.

Given that, exactly what are the anti-Zionists anti? What is it about “Zionism” that they object to? Is it the idea that the Jewish people have a right to self-determination similar to other people? Is it actually the existence of Israel as a Jewish state in the Middle East (or anywhere else) that is objectionable?

We seldom, if ever, hear about the women’s suffrage movement today. That is because all the movement’s goals, most notably the right to vote, have been achieved. But even though the original goals of Zionism have been achieved (the existence of a Jewish state in “Palestine”), we continue to hear talk of “Zionism” and anti-Zionism. Why is this? Probably because of the pernicious belief that, in addition to living in safety, dignity, and sovereignty in their own state in the Middle East, a cabal of Jooze also wants to rule the world, or as some believe, already rules the world, or at least the US Congress.

In addition to a financial and power stranglehold on US politics, there is also an aspect of “Zionism” that is religious in that Bible-believing Christians believe that when the Lord Jesus returns to the earth to establish His 1,000-year kingdom on earth, He will establish His government and throne in “Zion,” which is the old City of David in Jerusalem. At that time, the prophecy that Israel will be head of the nations and not the tail will be fulfilled. And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; Deuteronomy 28:13 KJV. Other verses reference the importance of the city of Jerusalem in the end-time scenario: And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. Romans 11:26 KJV

For the Deliverer (Jesus) to come out of Zion, it is essential that Zion exist. So-called “Christian Zionists” are no more or no less than Christians who believe the prophecies regarding Israel in the end times will all be literally fulfilled, much as the Lord’s first coming 2,000 years ago involved the literal fulfillment of prophecies regarding the coming of the Messiah. These prophecies include the existence of a Jewish temple in Jerusalem and a literal anti-Christ who literally stops literal temple sacrifices and literally sits in a literal temple, literally declaring he is God. These events result in the coming of the second holocaust, depicted in Revelation 12.

I used the term “Bible-believing Christians” because there are many people who claim to be Christians who do not necessarily believe everything, or even anything, that is found in the Bible. The Catholic church teaches Genesis 1-3 is mythology and did not happen the way the Bible says it did. Many “Christians” deny the existence of Noah and the universal flood account. On the other end, Catholics as well as other amillennialists deny the last three chapters of the Bible as well. Then there are the Preterists who deny that there are any unfilled prophecies in the Bible.

The amillennialists, or anti-dispensationalists, love to slander J. N. Darby, C. I. Scofield, Clarence Larkin, and the rest of the great teachers from the Philadelphia period of church history, the period where the great truths regarding the Second Coming and the Millennial Kingdom were revived, even before the actual, literal, physical, geographical nation of state of Israel had appeared. These men all said it would happen and were scorned and laughed at and said to be fools for believing it. When Jesus said, “Because you have kept the word of my patience, I will also keep you from the time of trouble that is coming to try all those who dwell on the earth,” He was talking to these men. And then it happened. The thing that everyone thought was impossible happened. Can a nation be born in a day? Evidently, yes. Israel declared independence as a British mandate ended on May 14, 1948.

Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Isaiah 66:8 KJV

As soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Darby, Scofield, and Larkin were right, and the critics were wrong. And for millions of Bible-believing Christians, “Zionism” is simply the belief that everything the Bible says about Israel’s future will be fulfilled in the same way its rebirth as a nation was fulfilled, and all the passages concerning end-time wars and controversies are being and will be fulfilled.

The Miracle of the Existence of the Jew

There are many books detailing the history of the Jewish people before and after the great dispersion from Jerusalem in AD 70. A good one is Diaspora: the post-Biblical history of the Jews by Werner Keller. Everyone understands that the events depicted in the play and movie The Fiddler on the Roof were not confined to one village in Russia but were the common experience of the Jews in Europe for two millennia. (For those who think the population of present-day Israel should be given DNA tests to prove their Jewish heritage, it should be noted that European governments knew who to expel without DNA tests, and Hitler’s SS never required a DNA test before shooting a Jew in the head or rounding a bunch of them up onto railway cars to be transported to extermination camps.)

The fact that these ancient people still exist, speaking what is essentially a 3,000-year-old language, is in and of itself a testament to the power of God to keep His promises. The reasoning behind God’s election of this particular group of people and the ways in which His prophecies regarding their blessings and curses, the establishment of their nation, and their scattering among the nations have come true, would be the subject of a long article I can’t address here. Suffice it to say, God has demonstrated both His grace and His severity on these people so that all nations are without excuse for not recognizing that the God of Israel is the God of Creation and the God of redemption. If it were not for God’s miraculous preservation of this people throughout the constant persecutions by Christians (Catholicism) and Muslims, the Jews would certainly not exist today in any great numbers.

But the greatest miracle of all (outside of the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ) is the regathering of the Jews in our time. In Ezekiel, the Lord says, “I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the Land of Israel. (Ezekiel 11:17). Chuck Baldwin, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and Nick Fuentes read this and stare blankly into space with absolutely no clue as to what this could possibly be a reference to. They are dumbfounded. As we said previously, there is no recovery from intentional ignorance. And they are truly ignorant in respect of what this promise of God to His people could possibly mean.

Probably the most memorable scene in Cecil B. DeMille’s epic film, The Ten Commandments, is the Israelites’ dramatic crossing of the Red Sea on dry land. But God has said that that miracle is not as great as the miracle of regathering the children of Israel from all the nations of the earth and restoring them to their native land, to Zion.

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers. Jeremiah 16:14-15 KJV

Your estimation of the return of the Jews to the land of Israel on May 14, 1948 may be that it was no big deal, and was not anything orchestrated by God, but God’s estimation of that event is that it is a greater miracle than the crossing of the Red Sea. God basically says He wants to be remembered as the God who restored the Jews to the Land of Israel, more than the God who miraculously brought the Children of Israel out of Egypt. You say the establishment of Israel as a Jewish state in 1948 is not related to any Biblical prophecy. You probably disagree with the God who made Heaven and Earth on other matters as well. But your ignorance, intentional or otherwise, does not compel me to deny what is an obvious fulfillment of prophecy and a miraculous one at that.

It is likely that the zombie virus of anti-semitism (disguised as anti-Zionism) is only going to spread. As flowers spread before a bride on her march to the altar, so anti-semitism is a sprinkling along the path of the anti-Christ to his seat in the temple of God, where he will proclaim himself to be God and receive the worship of all those who dwell on the earth. Another holocaust is in the wings, waiting to be unleashed. Those who know God and love God must resist it at all costs. Do not be afraid to speak against it, at any cost.

Biblically speaking Israel is a people and a piece of real estate. Get out your concordance and count how many times God mentions “the land” starting with Leviticus 26:42. Also God Himself says the regathering of Israel from every corner of the globe will be a bigger miracle than when He brought them into the land over dry land from Egypt. Why don’t you accept God’s evaluation of 1948? See Jeremiah 16:14. Who are you to disagree? Unless you are wise in your own conceits and intentionally ignorant of the mystery of Romans 11:25ff. After all, there is no worse kind of ignorance than intentional ignorance because there is no chance of recovery from intentional ignorance.
